train of thought

the train trip between edinburgh and my parents' place in northumberland is rather nice - remember to sit on the coast side if you ever do it to get the full effect. i've done it so many times, and yet i still like seeing the sea and the cliffs, esp the bit just above berwick. this time i was on the other side of the carriage, but as a blip it works ok ;-)

and: watched this for the very first time! knew the poem from being a kid, but tho i knew about the film i never saw it until i picked it up on dvd at the filmhouse last month. the full piece is fascinating - real social history; a way of life that became extinct decades ago.
