The Victorious Pirates
Staff Teambuilding got our weekend off to a great start! My team, made up of the Admin and Pre-Primary teachers were the victors of the survival challenges! We certainly won for getting into the spirit of things. From left to right are: Sandra (teacher of the 4 year olds, the Bunnies class), Helen (LuvU2 and our School Finance officer), Alet (teacher of the 5 year olds, the Giraffe class), Carolina ( our Principal and part time blipper InvisibleMom), and lastly me, Janay (School Administrator).
Our school morning was filled with the excitement and wonderful spirit of the High School Interhouse Athletics. Their spirit was very infectious and it was also uplifting to see teenagers being active and enthusiastic. The school spirit is at its highest and it promises to be a fantastic year for them!
The staff all rushed off after school to change and drive to the wonderful venue of Leopard Lodge for our teambuilding afternoon. We were given a list of survivor tasks and had such fun completing them. We were surprised to be the victors at the end of the day.
The lodge is built high up on the mountain side and has a large property filled with game. As we drove up for our sundowners and dinner we were treated to the sight of two giraffe feeding near to the road. (See LuvU2 for this photo)
Up at the lodge the boma fire welcomed us but we chose to sit on the lawn and admire the extensive view of Hartbeespoort Dam as we were offered delicious snacks served in a dried out tree fond.
Dinner was prego rolls and salads followed by a fruit pavlova, fruit kebabs and koeksisters. (Which are rich, sticky, sweet twirls of dough)
We had a wonderful day together and it was worth all the effort. I hope our new staff members feel more part of the family after today. We really are so fortunate to work amongst this amazing group of people. They are all so dedicated and yet also take the time to care about eachother too.
Here's to 2012 - may we go forward united and ready to enjoy every day!
