Muslim Burial Ground
This is the Muslim Burial Ground in Woking. It was established in 1915 for Indian soldiers who died from their wounds in the UK after fighting in the trenches on the Western Front in World War I.
You will notice that there are no graves now. Unlike those pristine cemeteries across Northern France, maintained by the Commonwealth Graves Commission, this one appears to have been neglected and the graves were vandalised in the 1960s. The remains were removed as a result and re-interred in Brookwood military cemetery.
