We rented a car in Eugene and I returned it almost exactly 48 hours later at the Oakland airport. This is a few hours before the midpoint of the rental, a little after 6:30 on Thursday morning (how on earth were we still in Crescent City at 9?).

I hate cars, don't really like driving much, and am pretty strongly opposed to the North American culture of widespread personal car ownership and casual use. However, when I take a vacation I do know how to loosen up a bit. Thus the Cobalt. As much as the rental cost, we really got our money's worth, off-roading the thing in the redwoods, twisting up and down Highway 1 in Mendocino County, and of course giving it a liiittle too much power on some gravel once or twice...
