Message in a bottle
It was a good day in London -productive meetings and won some new interesting work. Had half an hour between appointments so went to check out the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square where I'd noticed last week that there was a ship in a bottle.
It's a sculpture of HMS Victory by Yinka Shoribare called Nelson's Ship In a Bottle. So far, so obvious. The plaque said that the work reflected London's rich multicultural history and riches. Hmmm. Impossible to tell really.
It's so high up that even from the closest point (as in this picture) all you can see are some rather pretty sails and the overall concept. There are small figures on deck and possibly some intricate detail on the ship itself, but no-one is every going to see them in this location unless they have binoculars and a ladder. Maybe Admiral Lord Nelson has the best view from his column?
