Dundas House
This is a Palladian villa designed by the Swedish- born Scottish architect Sir William Chambers. I t was built for Sir Laurence Dundas. In the original plans for the new town it was to have been a church. Dundas however bought the site put paid to the plan. The building was sold by the Dundas family to the Government and then on to the RBS.
The statue is John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun. This statue should have gone to Charlotte Square at the other side of town but the idea fell out of favour and the bank were persuaded to give it a home.
