Appraising the new carpet . . . .
Poor guys! They spent 5 hours fitting the new carpet! More complicated than they thought it would be. Doors had to be removed, planed, rehung etc etc. They were super, pleasant, cheery, worked right through with only 2 cups of tea and a packet of chocolate biscuits and left no mess.
It looks lovely - the hall looks much brighter and bigger. Have shuggled the furniture round too, and now the pale wood desk and my laptop are in here, rather than the dark wood bureau.
The cats and Ollie were a bit bemused at first, but they have settled down now. Must smell and feel different to them too - it's much thicker and more comfy underfoot than the old one, which had been down for 24 years!!
Lifted the first of the white turnips today, and was so pleased with them. Purple and white and perfect! Would have blipped them but had promised to do the carpet!
Been a terrific day - hot and sunny - so I cut the grass and weeded like a thing possessed! Must go and slather some aftersun on my shoulders - that's the thing about gardening, your face doesn't catch the sun but the back of your neck and your shoulders do, and you don't realise until it's too late!
More sun forecast for the rest of the week - hooray! Finally!
