Sunrise at Stirling Railway Station

I asked hubby what struck him about this picture... he said it was the loneliness of the commuter. Its not very often that this train station is as empty as this, especially on a weekday morning, so in that sense it is unusual. But in terms of the commuter's loneliness as he stares at his smart phone - there could have been another hundred people on the platform and he would still have been as lonely. A little more anxious about getting a seat when the train arrives, no doubt, but lonely.

I have commuted in and out from Stirling Railway station since 2004 and today was the first time I really saw it. Look how beautiful the ironwork is and the curves of the ancillary buildings. The station was designed and built in 1916 by architect James Miller, who designed stations along the most beautiful railway line in the UK - the West Highland line. The station and signal box are category A listed buildings.
