Building Elements Number 31.....Builders Sand
The latest in an occasional series tagged buildingelements (usually brought into play when it's too bloody cold or I'm too lazy to walk as far as the seafront.....read between the lines)
Brief resume of yesterdays mishaps, expletives have been deleted to preserve your sensibilities.....but feel free to replace any spaces with the rudest words you know in any language.....
* Wake up with a bit of a fizzy tum and a headache (not the best of starts)
* Get soaked in garden taking pics of wet, rotting cabbage leaves
* Multiple abortive attempts to upload a blip of said wet, rotting cabbage interspersed with rebooting, unplugging the router, installing Firefox
* Try uploading same pic to Flickr, doesn't work
* Take break intending to watch Masterchef on BBC iPlayer, video stutters to a halt after 5 seconds
* Phonecall to the boy-in-the-attic to check he isn't downloading the entire internet or 'fiddling from afar'
* Check Virgin website (oh yes, still able to access the internet, it's just the upload/download stuff that isn't working, most odd) to find out if there's any local problems, nothing reported.
* Ring the Virgin helpline where I'm apologised to by a recorded message saying they know there's a problem in Birmingham (Birmingham?....I'm in Newcastle) and their engineers are working on the problem and it should be sorted by.....long empty pause then the phone goes dead
* Ring Virgin helpline again and get stuck in a loop of recorded options this time, none of which offer the chance to 'talk to a real person'
* Pour myself a stiff drink, down it in one
* Have one more try at uploading blip, take low-res picture of the failure screen with iPod Touch
* Retire to front room couch with another stiff drink and eventually manage to upload after about 10 attempts
* Collapse in an exhausted heap
Turns out the problem was at Virgin's end......
the one that got away.....
Back on track today though......apparently........
