Old Friends , Bookends and Decaf Coffee

So I met up with a friend today. Not seen her in quit a while so we had a good blether over a cup of coffee. She really should have been my blip but I forgot to get my camera out.

So I have recently discovered that I can get decaf in a coffee shop (scoff if you must) It sounds simple but for some reason it never occurred to me.

I am not great with coffee so I can only have a wee bit or I feel sick/ spaced later in the day, so this decaf stuff is the answer!

I read a great piece in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World

"When everything is freely available, nothing has any meaning."

True? False? I have been thinking allot about this sort of stuff lately.

Simon and Garfunkle - Old Friends / Bookends

"Old Friends
Old Friends
Sat on their park bench like bookends
a newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the round toes
Of the high shoes
Of the old friends

Old Friends
Winter companions, the old men
Lost in thier overcoats
Waiting for the sunset
The sounds of the city sifting through trees
Settle like dust
On the shoulders of the old friends

Can you imagine us years from today
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange to be seventy...

Old Friends
Memory brushes the same years
Silently sharing the same fear

Time it was and what a
time it was it was
A time of innocence
A time of confidences

Long ago it must be
I have a photograph
Preserve your memories
They're all that's left you"
