The Boat builder

Walking along some of the streets behind the quay at Looe we saw Cliff working on (he thinks) the 10th Redwing he has built since he retired. Beautifully crafted, clinker hulled with copper rivets, Redwings were designed by Uffa Fox in the 1930s. Cliff is 87 but is more agile then I! He leapt up, via a box, onto the bandsaw table to retrieve a gig oar to demonstrate how light they are, having been constructed with a hollow shaft. A real craftsman, Cliff was generous with his time and patient with our many questions.
