Studio Portrait
This is my attempt at recreating Yousuf Karsh's portrait of Francois Mauriac.
My photography course is going well, now onto my favourite subject matter - PORTRAITURE. This week our classroom was turned into a photography studio complete with backdrop, lighting, reflectors... Our tutor worked with each of us in turn to help us recreate (as near as possible in the time we had) a portrait taken by a famous photographer by experimenting with lighting techniques. I decided that if I was going to do it I wanted it to be challenging enough, so opted for this type of shot. It was quite funny directing 4 people to hold reflectors to get the lighting just right! Crazy how much effort went in to getting this, when the original was apparently done with natural light from a window and a bed sheet as a reflector!
This could do with a bit more tweaking, but so far i've just done a few basic edits.
I know i've not been around for a while, but hopefully now we're on my favourite aspect of photography - and due to the fact that means photos of children, which I have plenty of opportunities to take - I should be around a lot more. I hope you like it... :o)
