Welney wetlands
Took this picture of the Welney Wetlands observation building. It's a barn like wooden building with a huge walkway that extends out over a road to view the surrounding countryside. Which at this time of year is waterfilled fields for miles in every direction.
Welney is a village in Norfolk, bordering on Cambridgeshire. The A1101 runs through the middle of the 21 mile flood plain and today was submerged. At each end the road is a post marked up to about 8 foot, so can get pretty deep after a few wet weeks. Driven through a few times when the water has just broken through and started to stream across the road. Scary.
