This is one of the pictures painted on the wall at Addenbrookes Hospital, yes we went today. We were there at 0630 hours for a 0700 hours admission. After sitting in the day room for over eight hours, we came home again; no male beds!
I am cross to say the least; we now have a date of Thursday 26 January. My husband was the only male patient, as far as we know, who was sent home, but then as he is seventy, why bother? However, he is about to breach the eighteen week rule which means that the hospital is likely to be fined. We have made a complaint, it is not necessarily the hospitals fault, but a fault of the administration service, probably due to lack of funding. The only other patient sent home today, as far as we know, was a young girl.
This picture forms part of an informal panarama depicting famous Cambridge scientists, and was produced and unveiled on 28 September 2009 by Quentin Blake, to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the University of Cambridge. These scenes can also be bought as post cards and posters.
