Opening hyacinth

Today my kitchen windowsill hyacinth opened for the first time. It was cold out and I was late for work, so I just settled down to getting this moment. What interests me is that - although part of the flower is in focus - the whole is so soft: spongy lines, blurred distinctions, gentle whites, mauve greys. And the shining disc that looks like the sun but isn't.
I'm not surprised Sainsbury's starts selling hot cross buns the day after Christmas - don't we all need spring to look forward to..
