DIA Stained Glass

Today we went to the Detroit Institute of Art to see "Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus." It was an impressive display. I was most taken by Rembrandt's talent in sketching and drawing. His studies of people in ink and as etchings played a large role in his paintings.

As there is no photography allowed in the special exhibits, I snapped this of some stained glass called, "Saint Wenceslas and The Virgin and Child" According to the plaque, this piece is from Stokes Poges, Buckinghamshire, England, 1510-25 and the artist is unknown. This was a gift from Mrs. Edsel B. Ford.

I also toured an exhibit called "Detroit Revealed, Photographs 2000-2010." I don't think I have to say how much I enjoyed this gem. It was a blippers delight. Urban decay, portraits, landscapes and industrial snaps all rolled into one exhibit. MI blippers, if you can, check it out! Good stuff!!
