The mighty oak

If we are outside and it is windy, we can hear the leaves of this white oak tree rattling...loudly!

It is interesting that oak trees are given the title "mighty", but when left to mature, they certainly are impressive. Here in the Bristolwood, our woods is mainly made up of red and white oak. Because we live on a hillside, trees often fall and we cut up fallen trees for firewood. I can testify that the white oak puts out a lot of BTU's!

So, I felt compelled to stroll on up the hill a bit to pay respect to this large white oak tree that refuses to "undress" for the winter months! While other trees have been stripped of foliage, this mighty oak refuses to give up its garb...even in the coldest weather!
