Do you mind? I'm trying to eat...
It was a gloomy mid-winter day here in New Mexico. Normally sunny, it was overcast most of the day, but still very warm.
My husband called me out back to see the woodpecker in our apple tree, a very rare sight. By the time I got my lens changed, of course he was gone. Since I had gone to the trouble, I started photographing the small flock of robins that were roosting in our trees. A little early for the robins, but it has been a mild winter.
Then I noticed the two little yellow birds eating the seeds from the Trumpet Vine. They let me snap a hundred or so photos of them. Unfortunately, I took another photo class yesterday, was playing with my spot metering vs. evaluative metering and managed to underexpose every single photo. I'm thankful for software that helps me idiot proof my hobby somewhat.
This was my favorite photo because the female was eating and looking down at me like "What do you want? Why do you keep poking that thing in my face? Are you going to go away at some point?"
Eventually my birds left because the cat came over to the edge of the roof to help me with whatever it was I was doing.
Those of you who know your birds, I would love to know what these are. Photo of the male.
