Oude haven architecture

Lovely old architecture to be seen along the Oude haven, the canal area in the centre of the Dutch city Vlaardingen. Many of the buildings being formerly commercial now converted to residential property. The prominent building with the green shutters has been converted into apartments and is probably my favourite there with the fabulous roof and circular windows.

I don't know much about the building, other than it having something to do with the fishing industry, vischhandel , for which Vlaardingen is most well known, specifically the fishing of herring.

An uncharacteristically productive day for a Sunday! No day of rest here! Another great workout, followed by a stroll around the city. The weather has been a bit hit and miss lately, so no fabulous sunset as I was hoping for. Snapped this as dusk was beginning to fall, on our way back home.
