Rescue! With a little help from my friends...

"Hello, this is the police. We're wondering if you could come to help us with a horse which has become stuck in a bog..."

So went the phone call this afternoon which was to see me spending an hour extricating a horse from a peat bog, with the help of two fire crews, one Coastguard team, a policeman and two very worried horse owners. Thankfully our cunning plan to dig the legs free, then roll the horse over onto a large tarpaulin worked, and the team of big strong firemen were then able to use the tarpaulin as a stretcher to pull her to firmer ground.

Thankfully, it all ended well, with "Katie" getting to her feet and walking home to her stable, albeit a little stiff and sore.
