walking in the city

City to city

Front Street, rear window of taxi, Toronto

I love visiting Montreal when: a) it's summertime; b) I've no looming deadlines and c) I can return home and take a break from eating and drinking and laughing so much. Deeply satisfying trip, some highlights:

Spectacular dinner at RH's. He grilled up a summer feast and whipped up a veritable tower of desserts. All of it fresh, all of it delicious.

Got to see lots of my friends at a colleague's dissertation defense. She did great. Party afterwards at faculty's big breezy condo with huge buffet and just plenty of everything.

Shopping in the Plateau with AH. On a mission for shoes. Came back with lacy panties.

Free (!) professional haircut and style. He's really good and he makes housecalls and all we had to do was feed him. So more friends over to chillax all evening on AH's porch with yummy spread of cheeses, fresh berries, bread (shaped like a bum and nearly got presented with aforementioned panties) and summer dips.

Inspiring meeting with my supervisor on her breezy balcony. Discussing how I'm really going to roll out this dissertation. It's looking very different from what I proposed only 6 weeks ago.

Meander through Mile End with LR. Sitting on wobbly chairs in front of a tiny roti shop, comparing our writing strategies and drizzling hot sauce on melt-in-your-mouth chickpea and pumpkin roti.

Rounding off back at AH's in St Henri with RH and LR. Another massive spread. Perfect summer night air.

On the way home today looking at this for about 5 hours with occasional sights like this.
