...and the after!

I'm soo tired. I got up at 6am this moring to start a marathon baking session. It involved: 4 loaves of bread, 1 gluten free cake, 12 cup cakes, 4 lemon meringue cakes and then to stew 6lbs of stewing steak with 2 bottles of guinness! As well as taking the kids to their swimming lesson and finishing the tidying Mr H had started.

And this is all that's left (from front to back, right to left, Christmas Cake, Coffee cake with Bailey's buttercream, orange vanilla cupcakes, a lemon meringue cake peeking out and 2 loaves of bread).

Today has been brilliant! I love spending time with my family - lots of laughing and more presents. The only slight hiccup was when I preceded to tell my dad I was buying him a book for his new kindle - a christmas present he hadn't yet received as it was wrapped up in a bag next to my sister. Fortunately due to the chorus of 'Shut up' from everyone around me and the fact that my dad is clearly going a little deaf and didn't actually know what a kindle was, it remained the surprise it had intended to be!

We were then treated to a round of entertainment by my brother, lphoughton, who wowed us all with his prowess on singstar!

So now I'm very tired, Mr H has gone to get a takeaway and I'm looking forward to a lie in tomorrow followed by some serious reading of my new books on my two favourite topics: cake and the Titanic, which I suspect my dad had already read before he gave them to me because they involve his 2 favourite things: cake and ships!
