Guess what happened today...
Snow...that's what happened. The bottom dropped out of the thermometer too. When we took Gulliver for a walk in the park mid-afternoon, the temperature was hovering somewhere around 20 degrees Fahrenheit. And it was windy. Can you say B-r-r-r-r? There were only a few other dog walkers braving the breezes, and I heard or saw maybe two or three birds. Except for the deer, that was it, so for today's blip, I am treating you to a deer, actually several deer.
Yesterday I was approached by some moochers, i.e. hungry deer. The snow hadn't fallen yet, and plenty of vegetation was visible, but the moochers were convinced I was bringing them food. Unfortunately I wasn't, but they walked confidently toward me until the leader was no more than three feet away. I talked to her in a soothing voice, explaining how sorry I was, but I truly had no food in my pockets. I slowly backed up so I could get a picture of her, but as I backed away, she walked toward me. This little scenario was repeated several times until two women with a beagle and a basset hound came on the scene. The basset bayed and the deer bounded away, leaving me with a great memory to treasure.
