Forgotten and Unloved in Bahrain
For most expats the Bahrain we see is a place of opulence and the most vulgar 'bling' imaginable - think Rolexes the size of Big Ben, 4x4s bigger than the moon, designer shops, etc, etc - and with that goes a throw-away culture. The cogs are part of a bike that's been chained to the railings for at least the year that I've lived in my apartment block and probably much longer. It was doubtless left by a departing expat for whom it's worth was nothing. There's a poor underbelly in Bahrain who would have welcomed this bike as a gift and got many years use from it - it's too late now!
