Homespun Charms

Moor top - at last!

Incredibly windy first thing today. Spent a long morning doing necessary but not mind expanding domestic chores. By lunch time the sun was out, the sky was a beautiful blue and I had to get out in it. A short car ride to the start and then a steady uphill path. The views across the Vale of Mowbray to the Dales was superb (apart from the dratted pylons!) and Penhill stands out as an unmistakeable landmark. We passed a flock of sheep with red painted horns which I thought novel. There were also a couple of flocks of geese wheeling above seemingly not going anywhere in particular. I took lots of pictures but liked this one because it captures something of the wild open space with room to breathe. A little further on we joined the Cleveland Way for a short stretch and the valley at the other side came into view. Back into the woods to drop down again and pick up the original path. The trouble with starting from the car, you have to end up at the same place! Lovely sunset at the end to round off a very satisfying walk, one I've been wanting to re-visit for some time.
PS. The gorse is in bloom so that's good news!!!
