Practice
I went for a drive this evening, just to see what I could find to photograph. The sunset wasn't as incredible as I was hoping, but that doesn't mean there weren't lovely lights around to have a play with. I really wanted to do some long exposures, but I forgot to ... uh... use the facilities before heading out, and by the time it was dark enough I needed to go back home. I got a few photos I quite liked, but this was my favourite not so cliched one (there were a few 'nice' reflections, but they were much like others I've posted). I wanted to practise DoF in diminishing light, it worked I think, although perhaps the rope should be a little more central to pull the eye better.
Had a pretty nice day. I got a key for a new 6 month job - interim youth person at a inner city church (nothing signed yet though, but I do have a key now...), keeping things running until they can find someone permanent. I do try to escape Anglican related jobs, but it's just not working for me yet. Still, this one's going to be fun - I'm taking over from a couple of friends, and I know a lot of the youth already, there's a lot of potential there. Then I had a haircut, very exciting to have split-end free hair again. It had only been 6 months since my last haircut, no time at all. :D And I discovered that my podiatrist (history of bad knees in the family combined with my completely flat feet means I need to look after myself) took pity on me as a student and deemed my bill 'fund only' - they would take what my private health paid them, and nothing extra from me to cover the gap. Most wonderful of them indeed.
And now I'm tucked up in our newly arranged lounge room, watching the 'Are you my Mummy?' episodes of Doctor Who. Totally freaky one. And also in freaky news I keep getting followed on twitter by randoms. I'm sure they're just twitterbotting (or whatever the things are), but really. So I'm just going to put it out there and say 'Tweet with me!' ('follow me' sounds so demanding). I don't actually twitterpate much, but maybe that's because I'm only followed by a few real people, or maybe it's also because I don't have particularly original thoughts. Still, it's kinda cool to have some way of connecting with the world on a level slightly more public than I like facebook to be.
