Nature really is amazing the way it gets a root into the most challenging of places. This is pennywort or navelwort ( umbilicus rupestris ), a plant which can be used medicinally for earache. A couple of drops of the juice from the freshly crushed leaves ccn be put in the ear and capped with a bit of cotton wool. I love the way it has found a home in this guttering on ' The Blue House' in Schull.
