Paperdoll Debris

grey evening

A busy day today; After admin and chores in the morning, I was able - with my Pa's help - to pick up my trunks from the depot near the airport, this afternoon.

I only realized at 1pm, first that it was indeed 1pm, and secondly that I need to collect by 3pm... By 1.30 we were in the car, sans rear seats, heading south to Auckland. My trunks, boxes and bicycle fitted in the back of the car as if I had carefully packed only what would fit.

We also collected the mail while we were in Auckland and there was a package for me: the Kaaru glass Air New Zealand glasses I had bought on TradeMe. Which was nice. Less nice was the disturbing tinkle I heard inside. I didn't unwrap the package until this evening as I was unpacking my trunks, but my fear was confirmed: one of the 6 is broken. Shattered, even. Strange when the others are fine. The seller had carefully lined the wooden box with bubble-wrap then each glass individually in bubble-wrap, so I don't know what other precautions he could have taken.

I missed capturing the pretty sunset, it was very brief - it made me happy to see though. But I liked the soft grey blue of the evening sky with the cabbage trees and pohutukawa, and it suits the inexplicable melancholia I feel this evening.
