Above Foxton Locks

On the far side of this bridge, a short distance away, is the top of the 'staircase' of locks at Foxton, on the Grand Union canal near Leicester. It's a route travelled sometimes by my parents when holidaying on canal boats twice a year for many, many years.
It's one they'd planned to travel also when they'd retired, sold their flat and bought their own narrow boat to live on (not something they were doing on a whim, over the years they'd made friends who'd already done it, they planned it, researched it). But just as they were on the verge of fulfilling the dream, and about to put their flat on the market, fate stepped in and mum was diagnosed with cancer - she died just 4 months later.
This area above the bridge is now a very special one to me, and the photo taken on a very special day - I can't really say why though! lol
