Caught in the act!
We have a cherry tree which is always covered in fruit, and the blackbirds know it, from years of experience or it's handed down through the family!
We have it covered with bird netting, but they must be always watching as today, when I undid the over I decided to leave it open as there's very few cherries left.
Within a few minutes there was a big rustling in the leaves, so I went over - the blackbird obviously got a fright as it fell out of the tree in a flurry of feathers, still carrying a cherry!
This is it sitting looking startled with a cherry just visible by it's leg. a moment after I took this, it grabbed the cherry reorganized its feathers and took off screeching.
