Labradorite
This one of my beautiful labradorite necklaces. It's possibly my favourite stone and I love the way it catches the light. Now thats actually pretty hard to capture so this photo isn't a true representation of the beauty of the actual stone itself. Imagine petrol in a puddle of water or the iridescence of a butterflies wing and you will get the idea.
Today has been a good day, despite being completely bogged down at work and having had a rotten sleep last night I have felt ok. I've felt chirpy for most of the day and asked my twitter friend if I could re-join the weekend blip challenge that a group of people do. And so here I am, even used my camera (for the first time in too long).
Labradorite belongs to the Feldspar mineral group. Thus hopefully suitable for the WBC entry.
Did a little online searching as I was going to do a fancy pants explanation of the stone but despite the fact I would have loved to have studied geology the truth is I am a little bit simple but I found a story I like very much. The stone gets its name from the area where it is found. Legend has it that the northern lights were trapped in the stone but a wandering eskimo found them and released them by breaking the rock but some remained locked inside. I think that's better than any scientific explanation
