Ivy Berries

I was running along the Union Canal this morning and noticed these ivy berries. I didn't realise until recently what an important plant ivy is. It's one of the few plants which flower during the winter, providing nectar for the bees and later the berries are a source of food for the birds.

The sun hadn't quite risen over Craiglockhart Hill and so this is still in the shade, but I think the colours are interesting. Hope you enjoy it, too.
