Angel
January is not a great month to work in a hospital as we have constantly closed wards due to outbreaks of norovirus (the winter vomiting bug). Seeing as patients are already fairly poorly before they come into hospital, if they are unlucky enough to catch a bug too it isn't too great for them. We also have plenty of staff picking up the bug. Luckily, I seem to have built up a robust constitution (my father's mother ran her own abbattoir) as I haven't been struck down as yet (touch wood). One patient was telling me that he'd been really ill with the bug yesterday. I jokingly told him not to breathe over me then....so, of course, he did! If I get the bug now, I will return to his bedside and hit him over the head with a bedpan...
We had our weekly jaunt out to Manchester. I wanted to get a great picture of Manchester Cathedral which is a glorious building. I did take some good pictures of the cathedral but I then spotted two angels at the entrance and I couldn't resist this one. I have traced a little of my family ancestry in the past and my Great Grandfather married his second wife at Manchester Cathedral in 1868. This seemed quite a grand thing to me until I discovered that, at the time, the Cathedral was well known for marrying all and sundry due to the fact that it was all good revenue for the church. I also never discovered what happened to my Great Grandfather's first wife so it might have even been a bigamist marriage although that's probably just me being dramatic!
