Travelling at the speed of light

One of the photographers I like to follow is Grant_R who takes some fantastic images and inspires me through his blog to try out something different. I've been waiting for an evening where the clouds were clear and I wasn't going out on the lash and tonight was the night. I headed down to South Queensferry, lined up the stars to get a circular star trail and then waited on the pier for the 63 exposures to happen. The waves were starting to get closer and closer and eventually I thought it was better to move and this is the result.

My link to Grant's website tells you how to do this kind of image - the one thing I would really impress on anyone else trying to do this in winter is to take heed of Grant's advice to dress up warm - I'd go so far as to say, take a flask of coffee with you - you won't regret it!
