A blast of light

I am on a mission to master my flash and take better photos with it. I am doing a bunch of reading (if anyone has any links to good source material they'd like to share then they would be gratefully received...) and even more experimenting on anything/anyone I can find.

Chewing through batteries aside, it is going ok I think. So far I have made the leap of faith that shutter speed doesn't matter (usually) and am gradually figuring out the whole power / distance thing.

The pose was the choice of my 7 yr old daughter (the model)... It is unusual but striking (she was getting bored after 3 photos)

More fun to come on the dark days and nights ahead.
