The Upper Lighthouse, usually referred to as the Pharos Lighthouse (after the wonder of the Ancient World), was built in 1840. There are 107 steps and a 10 foot ladder to the top.
The Upper Lighthouse is 90 feet above the high water mark and visible for 13 miles.

It was still working today. The lower lighthouse is visible for 9 miles and when the two lights are lined up from the sea you will know that you are in the channel.
Very windy today, we came back through Blackpool and Warton, we heard a jet but didn't see it.
