Frozen in Time

Thank you for all the love given to my little New Year's rose yesterday! What a great way to start 2012!

Not so lucky was my marsh marigold, I'm afraid.

Our December was unseasonably warm, and the marigold took it as a sign that spring was in the air. Several fronds were already stretching out of the water in my pond when WHAM! January struck.

I think this is probably as beautiful as this untimely sprout is going to look. Thankfully, this is a very hardy variety, and it will be in full bloom when March rolls around again.
