After the funeral
Today was my grandfathers funeral at Akureyrarkirkja.
It was a beautiful ceremony, modest and respectful.
Here in Iceland it's common to offer the guests some refreshments after the funeral service, usually coffee and some bread and cakes. This picture was taken at the gathering after the funeral.
Some of the guests today had traveled a long way, for example those two: My grandmother Sirrý's two nephews. Arne is the one in the middle (he lives in Gentofte, Denmark) and on the right side is Reynir who lives in Hafnarfjörður. My grandmother was so happy to see them and it was refreshing for her to be able to chat about her siblings and the old days. That's what she likes best :o)
