Life, Universe & Not Much

A word in your ...

The weather here has been horrible much of the day, with a couple of very brief sunny intervals. I decided that the shot today would have to be indoors. Once I have set up the lights etc, I'd really rather shoot several images, and spread them over a few days when outside photography is a problem, but that's not in the spirit of the project. That's why although I'll try to take a photo every day, I do find it artificial, constraining, and does not add to my enjoyment of photography!

Sony Alpha 900, 100mm Macro lens. For most of my macro work I find live view and an articulated rear LCD are essential (and for some landscape too, where I need to raise the camera to a height at which I cannot look through a viewfinder). However, for this shot I was able to manage without an articulated screen and live-view, though as a substitute I did tether the A900 to a MacBook (cable this time, rather than Eye-Fi, as the A900 uses CF cards, not SD). I do like the A900, but size and weight, and the lack of live-view and articulated LCD, mean that I treat it as a studio camera now.
