The end of a glittering career.

This was the first thing I saw as I turned out of my road at 6.30 this morning; a discarded Christmas tree that had been blown into the middle of the road, probably desperate to be noticed one last time.

The whole image was surreal, bathed in the yellow glow of the sodium streetlights. It made me feel sad. I hope the tree had a fulfilled and happy life over Christmas.
