bird bath

From my vantage point on the beach it became obvious this week that this group of birds chooses this particular spot to congregate and bathe at about 11.30 every morning.

Not sure what the signal to do so is, but reliably for the last four days they have done the same thing.

One then a couple and eventually about twenty or so gather and flit about at the water's edge.

They dip their heads into the shallow seawater then shake themselves dry many times over. They also seem to sport a punkish hairdo.

Here they're blipped when someone signals it is time to leave.
