Grey Heron
Ardea cinerea
I will try to post something that isn't a bird tomorrow but for now I am just super excited that I can photograph them (lens lent by other half) so it is difficult to think about anything else. I am going to try and keep a folder of birds photographed this year and have 12 so far.
The moping heron, motionless and stiff,
That on a stone as silently and stilly,
Stood an apparent sentinal, as if
To guard the water-lily
from The Haunted House by Thomas Wood
I thought Herons would be good to photograph as they are big and stand still as suggested by Solli in the forum. As it turns out, this one was flapping about in a tree and was quite far away. I'll keep trying!
