Omikuji

Omikuji are written fortunes which can be obtained by drawing lots in most Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples.They indicate one's overall fortune, it is said that when you draws a good fortune, you can take it home. But when a bad one is drawn, it should be tied to the branch of a tree in order to return it to a shine or temple. But people often tie good fortunes as well.
