Mother Christmas

My mother in law told the kids that if they leave their shoes behind the door on new years eve then mother Christmas will come and fill their shoes with sweets (as if they hadn't had enough over the past couple of weeks).

Anyway after a quick Internet search (that turned up relatively little) it would appear that it's a central and eastern European idea that has been slightly lost in translation, as they do/did it on the 5 and 6 of December.

Anyway, do the kids care? Nope they'll believe anything if it involves free sweets.
