Hodge Close
Today was our dive club's Christmas trip out to a disused slate quarry near Coniston with crystal clear waters at around 4C and a max depth of approx 29 meters.
To access it you have to walk through a short waterlogged tunnel (which is no problem if you're shorter than 5ft 5") then negotiate a 7ft ladder down into the quarry.
For me, this was a repeat visit but today was different as we planned to do the tunnels! This is three chambers interlinked by a tunnel at around 25 metres with one entry/exit point.
Feeling quite adventurous and keen to do this we went in.... and three chambers later we emerged.
A challenging dive site, a lot of hard work and a feeling of success.
