The Best Photo Of All

This photo might be a bit blurry, out of focus and the lighting all out, but it's one of most treasured ones I have. I think about my dad every day, but probably think a lot more at Christmas and New Year as other people reminisce about him too. I've looked at this a few times over the last few days.

This is the only photo there is of all five members of the Birrell family together. It was taken on Christmas Day 2004 by my mum in law at night, after dinner. Dad had taken a break from chemo to make sure he was well for one last Christmas, Robyn's first. It was a very special day.

I was at a funeral today, in support of someone saying goodbye to their dad. A lovely service with poems, readings and tributes which made it a very personal celebration of Jim's life.
