poppa bear

this is dear old dad. we got up early today and took a canoe ride around the lake. i've never been up so early at the cottage. it's a place for relaxing and not getting up early. but i'm glad i did. we saw a bunch of herons, a MASSIVE snapping turtle, a ton of fish, and even a beaver. i didn't know we had beavers in michigan. ha!

the lake isn't doing so well actually. the past couple of weeks it has rained a lot up there and the runoff and the higher water levels is causing the lake's mud not to settle so there is a layer of murky film that's never been there before. ever. and my dad's been there the past 40 years. the seaweed and algae is super high and is suffocating the growth of everything... sooo that's not good. i hope everything works out for the best.

also--thanks to everyone who's been looking back at my back blips. i didn't expect too much but it was so nice to see comments when i got back. :) it's a little thing but it lifted my day up. :))
