Portrait of the artist's gates

A few years back, I worked in a small school in a village. The village was, and still is, pure 'chocolate box' ... a village green with the pub, church and school dotted around it and an old-fashioned telephone box!

An artist lived in the Old Vicarage, with her extended family. Mrs. H was wonderfully eccentric. She was often seen 'out and about' with her pet parrot on her shoulder.

Her grandchildren went to the local primary school for a time and Mrs. H allowed classes to visit her studio during arts' weeks and she painted backdrops for the school Christmas productions. She even painted a picture of the school, with yours truly in the foreground!

I went back to the village today and called at the Old Vicarage. No reply! It would have been lovely to say, 'Hello' to Mrs. H again. Never mind. Here's to next time!

Picture of Mrs. H painting her gates!
