An hour or so later, it had been sliced into manageable lengths with a chainsaw and is no longer a heap, having now been stacked on the official stack.

The chainsaw will be busy again tomorrow, dealing with more of the several woodheaps I acquired after the windstorm in July took so many trees down.
Many of the hundreds of trees that came down on that occasion were Radiata pine, which is not so great for firewood, but these pieces of eucalypt will burn long and hot, once they've seasoned. What's not ready for next winter will be ready the year after.
