Spicy gifts
Two salt & peppers came our way as Christmas gifts this year. The very cute mouse and cheese were part of a gift basket from my brother and sister-in-law. The double-grinder was a gift to myself. I have a small pepper grinder at my desk at work but only had ground black pepper or garlic pepper at home. I love the smell and taste of freshly ground pepper - especially three- or four-colour peppercorns. I was only after a pepper grinder but I saw the double gizmo for sea salt as well for $12 or so on sale just before Christmas so I treated myself. There's a grinder at each end to keep the spices separate and each can be adjusted for coarseness. The mouse sits atop the cheese which makes it even cuter but a bit more perilous. Our table is glass-topped and if the mouse falls, I'm concerned it will chip. Perhaps it's best to keep them sitting side by side. The are all washed up and soon to go on the table once fully dry. The utensil set is not new - a wedding gift from my mother back in 1987. It gets used a lot I'm happy to say.
